YouTube Shorts Downloader

Save YouTube Shorts as vertical MP4 with sound in their original quality, usually 1080p, or keep just the audio. Works on phones and desktop, with no app to install.

Works with watch, Shorts, Live and youtu.be links, or an 11-character video ID.

How it works

How to download a YouTube Short

Three steps, the same on iPhone, Android and desktop.

  1. Copy the Short's link

In the YouTube app, open the Short, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy it from the address bar.

  2. Paste it above

Paste the link into the box. Links like youtube.com/shorts/… and youtu.be/… both work.

  3. Download the MP4

Pick a quality, usually 1080p, and select Download. The file is saved with the Short's title.

Why use it

Built to be simple and honest

No pop-ups, no fake buttons, no options that don't exist.

  • No account needed

Paste a link and download. There's nothing to sign up for.

  • Video and audio in one file

YouTube stores higher qualities as separate video and audio streams. They're merged into a single MP4 for you.

  • Only real formats

You see the qualities YouTube actually offers for that video, with file sizes when YouTube reports them.

  • Works on any screen

Designed for phones first, with large touch targets, and just as comfortable on a desktop.

  • YouTube links only

Links are checked before anything runs, and the server only ever asks YouTube for a video ID.

  • Nothing kept

Links aren't saved, and temporary files are deleted as soon as your download has been sent.

Good to know

Shorts downloads, explained

What you get when you download a Short

Shorts are vertical videos in a 9:16 frame. A Short listed as 1080p downloads as a 1080×1920 MP4, the same orientation you see on your phone, with its original sound.

  • Original quality. You get the stream YouTube serves, without re-encoding. Most Shorts are available in 1080p; some are only uploaded in 720p.
  • Sound included. Above 360p YouTube keeps picture and sound separate. They're joined into one MP4 for you, so the file plays anywhere.
  • Small files. Shorts are at most 3 minutes long, so downloads are usually a few megabytes to a few tens of megabytes and start quickly.

Saving a Short to your phone's gallery

iPhone and iPad: Safari saves the file to Files → Downloads. Open it there, tap the share button and choose Save Video to move it into Photos.

Android: Chrome saves it to your Downloads folder, and most gallery apps show it automatically.

Downloading a regular video or just the sound?

Regular YouTube video links work here too. For long videos and 4K, the video downloader explains qualities and formats in more detail, and the audio downloader saves just the soundtrack as an M4A file.

FAQ

Shorts download questions

How do I download a YouTube Short?

Copy the Short's link (in the app: Share → Copy link), paste it into the box at the top of this page and select Get Video. Then select Download next to the quality you want. The step-by-step guide covers desktop, Android and iPhone.

Can I download YouTube Shorts with sound?

Yes. Every video quality downloads as an MP4 with sound, including 720p and 1080p, where YouTube keeps picture and sound in separate streams that are joined on the server.

What resolution are downloaded Shorts?

The resolution the creator uploaded. Most Shorts are available in 1080p, which is 1080×1920 because Shorts are vertical. Some are only available in 720p or lower.

Does the downloaded Short have a watermark?

No watermark is added. You get the video exactly as YouTube streams it. If the creator put a logo or text into the video itself, that stays, because it's part of the picture.

How do I save a Short to Photos on iPhone?

After downloading in Safari, open the Files app, go to Downloads, open the video, tap the share button and choose Save Video.

Which links work?

youtube.com/shorts/…, youtu.be/…, regular watch links, mobile and YouTube Music links, or just the 11-character video ID. Playlist and channel links aren't supported. See supported links.

Do I need to create an account or install an app?

No. It works in any modern browser on phones and desktop. There are no accounts, and the links you paste aren't saved.

Can I download someone else's Short?

Only if you have their permission or the Short is under a licence that allows it. YouTube's Terms of Service restrict downloading other people's content. See is it legal to download YouTube videos?
